Wood:

• MDF

• hard board

Plastics:

• Polycarbonate (PC) aka. Lexan(tm)/Makrolon(tm)

  • eg. for panels

  • better to work with than Plexiglas(tm) (PMMA). Other names: Acrylicglass, Polymethylmethacrylate

• PE-LD / PE-HD

  • eg for friction locks

• PVC foam sheets

  • eg. for internal panelling (like walls, sidewalls)

• PolyesterResin

  • Stuff that is liquid and smells really nasty at first, but hardens and becomes like plastic

Other Materials

• FR4 (Printed Circuit Board Material) with one/twosided copper or without copper

  • easy to work with

  • thickness usually 1.5mm

  • sturdy

  • great for analog instruments or as backer/mounting plate for switches and stuff of your panels (MCP/RDP/,,,,)

  • perfect if you want to solder a few electronis parts to it
