Annunciators

Though they don't seem very important at first because you don't "DO" stuff with them while flying these things are vital information bearers and bring a lot of atmosphere to the cockpit with all their colors.

A very interesting tip came from Mark Verschaeren. He suggested using Tic-Tac boxes. That's how I started off cutting one to pieces.

A typical annunciator is 26 mm by 10 mm and as you can see the tic-tac box is to big. It is 36 mm by 13 mm.

If you don't mind you can use it just like that. Or else you can cut it with a sharp knife into 2 pieces.

If then you glue the pieces together and make a silicone mold and create a clone, you end up with something looking like this:

And after adding black spray-paint:

All that is left to do is make a little "window" out of plexy or an old cd-box and put a printed index in front of it. Then on top of the paper comes a bit of car-window-shader-foil.

Now just fit a LED or 2 inside and they are ready to be mounted into your sim !

Molds for these annunciators will be for sale via http://www.fokker50.info in the future. Also molds for korry-type switch-hats will be available as soon as they are ready. +/- € 10 per mold + shipment should be fair (don't want to make any proffit out of this) If you prefer having a molded annunciator/switch-hat, that is possible too, so that you can make your own mold (less heavy for shipment). Those will be sold as well for +/- € 3 ( 1 piece per person MAX! .. I do not wish to start up a business and mold 400 of these things every week )

A good guide to building your own can be found on Mike's page.

If you can afford, you can buy them from FDS as well. You tell them what text they need to show.

Dimensions can be found for example here: http://www.korry.com/products/switches/
